Privacy and Request Handling

Unity Portal respects the privacy and dignity of every person seeking assistance. We collect only the information reasonably necessary to understand a request, identify appropriate resources, communicate with the requester, and coordinate a response.

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Information we collect

From people requesting help: the type of need, a short description, city or ZIP code, household size if provided, contact name, email or phone number, and your privacy and sharing choices.

From organizations: organization name and type, location and service area, programs and eligibility, public contact details, and the name, role, and contact information of the authorized representative.

From account holders: email address, name, and profile details you choose to add.

Why we collect it

Information is used only to understand requests, match them with relevant verified organizations, communicate about the request, verify organizations, keep the platform safe, and improve how the network serves the community.

Who may access private requests

Private assistance requests are not displayed publicly by default. Requests may be viewed only by authorized Unity Portal administrators and verified organizations selected because their services appear relevant to the request. An anonymized version may be shared publicly only when the requester gives clear, separate permission.

If you choose to keep your name private, responding organizations will not see it. Authorized Unity Portal administrators may still access your name and contact information to coordinate the request.

When information is shared with verified organizations

We share a request with a verified organization only when its listed services appear relevant to the need and location. Organizations may use the information only to respond to that request.

What we will never do

  • Unity Portal does not sell personal information.
  • Information cannot be used for unrelated advertising, fundraising, political outreach, or solicitation — by Unity Portal or by participating organizations.

Access, correction, and deletion

You may ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing support@unityportal.org. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Service area

Unity Portal serves Bell County, Texas, with its initial verified-partner rollout centered in Killeen. Public resources may be viewed by anyone. During the pilot phase, organization accounts are available to churches and nonprofits located in or directly serving Killeen. Organizations elsewhere in Bell County may be approved by invitation or through special review as the network expands.

Prayer Wall

Prayer requests are posted publicly. You may post anonymously, and your name will not be shown. Do not include private details such as addresses, phone numbers, medical information, or other people's names without permission. Posts containing flagged language are held for review and may be rejected or removed.

Concern reports

When you report a concern, we keep the report, the listing it refers to, and any contact details you choose to give, so administrators can follow up. Reports are visible only to Unity Portal administrators.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information tied to it by emailing support@unityportal.org. Some records, such as audit history of administrator actions, may be kept in anonymized form.

How long information is kept

Assistance requests are kept while they are open and for a limited period afterward to coordinate follow-up and prevent duplicate requests, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Organization records are kept while the organization participates in the network. Some records may be kept longer when required by law or to resolve disputes.

Children

Children under 13 should not submit information without a parent or legal guardian.

Not an emergency service

Unity Portal is not an emergency service. Call 911 for a life-threatening emergency. Call or text 988 for mental-health or suicide-crisis support. Dial 2-1-1 for statewide information and referrals.

Privacy questions may be sent to support@unityportal.org.
